With its new location in midtown, Brick Lane Curry House differentiates itself from its neighbors with a bit more flash and an English-Indian menu. The bright purple fluorescent sign announcing the restaurant's name is a cool contrast with the elegant interior. The whole enterprise is modeled not after U.S. Indian restaurants, but after the curry houses of Brick Lane in London, where curries have replaced crumpets as the national meal. The menu, therefore, is lighter on tandooris and khurmas and heavier on kebabs and robust curries.
Brick Lane Curry House offers diners a new and innovative way to experience Indian cuisine. The gorgeous dining room, friendly service and mouthwatering food work together to produce an unforgettable dining experience for every single customer.
Samosas—Crispy pastry stuffed with spiced potatoes and vegetables or minced lamb

The food was not only bad (lack of flavor, small portions for pricing, and cold), but also took 90 minutes to come when the quoted delivery time was 30 minutes.
Way too many other places in midtown to order from. Will not be ordering from here again.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Placed an order at 12:05, food did not show up till 1:40. The people at the restaurant were rude when I caleld to follow up as to where the food was. Fodo finally arrived cold. DO NOT order from here - you have been warned!

Food is always very good, and delivery time is on point! Slightly expensive, but well worth it.

I like this restaurant. I typically order their rolls. They make those well. I like it that they throw in some free rice pudding with every order.

Pricey but excellent food, always comes on time if not early.

Excellent food - only disappointment is they have limited choices for lunch specials....would be great to have malai kofta, paneer palak etc...

Best indian food on the upper east side. It leaves me so full. Great deal for the price. Quick delivery; great food; great price.

Food took 1.5 hours to arrive. Called the restaurant and placed on hold for 10 mins!!
Posted 2 years ago by WENDY H.
Small portions, delivered cold, and delivered 1.5 hours later than they said. Gave 2 stars instead of 1 because I'm starving and just happy to eat, but never again at Bricklane. They just made the list.

What the hell w delivery...ordered and confirmed at 1:11 quoted 30-45 mins...it's 2:25...the delivery guy still isn't here! Every time I call they quote another 5 mins.

Good food but very expensive.

Taste delicious, but over priced for an order of lamb Vindaloo (5 pieces of small lamb cubes with 2 small cut potatoes), cost 19.00 dollars. Still prefer 'Dawat'.

The chana masala was so salty it was literally inedible. The onion kulcha was good, fresh and fluffy. If I hadn't ordered that, I'd have gone hungry. Delivery was quick.

Really superb Indian food. The vindaloo and tikka masala are both top-notch, especially if you ask for spicy. The lunch specials are a great deal -- easily enough food for two people.

fast delivery, didn't particular liked the flavor of what I ordered, but the restaurant is not at fault. Wish they had better flavor description for lunch specials. A bit oily.

I ordered here last night based on the 5-star rating and I was extremely disappointed. I couldn't finish even half of my food, and oh BTW, when you order chicken entree, you get curry and chicken seperately, as if you are suppossed to cook them together yourself . Bottomline, the food just tasted bad.

Fast delivery and absolutely amazing Indian food! The chicken tikka masala lunch special rocks!

This place is totally awesome!! I've been ordering delivery at least once a week and completely satisfied every time. I regret that I haven't been able to dine at the actual restaurant. Everything on the menu is authentic and absolutely delicious! All this means a lot coming from a restaurant owner!!

The 1st time I ordered from them I wasn't impressed. But I'm glad I gave them a 2nd chance. Their food is incredibly flavorful and the ingredients are high quality. I got the Dal of The Day and I feel like I'm eating food cooked by my mum. I just wish they'd serve a small salad with their lunch specials. Will definitely order again.

Great food. A little pricey. If you want to eatby 12pm you need to order as soon as they open at 11am. Otherwise it could take up to an hour and a half to get your food. Food always arrives hot though.

A really amazing and quick curry delivery place! We're partial to the Saag and Tikka Masala at the spiciest level. Comes with papadums and delicious sauces! The garlic naan is of course delicious. The curry quality is worth the price, and they usually deliver in about 30 minutes, super speedy! Also, the lunch specials are giant and a bargain. I highly recommend!

I really like this place, but I ordered a full price curry meal for $18 thinking I'd get more food becuase I was pretty hungry. Instead I was given the regular lunch meal, so I basically paid $20 for something I could've had for $10.
Perhaps that's my mistake, but it's misleading at best.

The office's go-to Indian take-out restaurant. My favorite dish is the Madras lunch special, the sauce has a great flavor. Made with lots of sauce, order extra naan to dip in. Medium spice level is perfect for me, mild is barely spicy, and vindaloo is just too spicy. From our experience, they have always delivered on time.

Simply spectacular! Best Indian food around!

Order never came. Called the restaurant and was told delivery guy gave it to someone who I don't know.
Did not refund my meal, but told me the next order was on them. Just called and now they say I have to buy a meal to get a free one.
Very rude over the phone and delivery is flaky. Food usually arrives cold if at all.

Food was excellent. Service was excellent. They retweeted my tweet too :) Will order from again.
Posted 3 years ago by Stephanie B.
Food was good but expect a long wait time for delivery. On seamless it states a 30 to 45 wait time, but, it took over an hour and 20 minutes....on a dry Tuesday night...not acceptable in my opinion when there are way too many other places to order from.

Unique menu - several dishes that I have not seen on other menus. I love spicy, and they sure do make it spicy if requested!!!

Great food at a very affordable price. The spice levels are mild, so in case you like more spice, you'll have to let them know.

VERY SLOW DELIVERY... NOT WORTH THE WAIT

I ordered the Vindaloo lunch special and it was amazing. Hands down some of the best Indian food I've ever had. I ordered the medium spice level and although it was a bit spicier than what I would consider medium to be it was still amazing. Even the veggie side dish (it was mainly okra, which I hate) was awesome. Garlic naan was still warm and great with the sauce! My only complaint was that my food arrived 30 min late. I ordered at 11am for a 12:30pm deliver and didn't receive it until1. Luckily I didn't have anywhere I had to be. Will definitely order from here again!
Posted 4 years ago by Julie B.
Delivery was fine (30-40 minutes, less than stated in my email). I ordered vindaloo with paneer. They made it spicy, as requested (I'm Indian, so I mean actually spicy!), but the rice was not fully cooked. It was hard in the middle, which basically ruined the meal. The rice did not soak up the curry very well and it crunched with every bite. Really too bad.

i will echo David M.'s comments below. The delivery estimate time changed after placing the order. When I called the restaurant it took quite some time to find the order (asked for the delivery address twice, asked me I was calling the right Bricklane, and then asked me to describe the order). When i told the person that the delivery estimate had changed after placing the order the blame was quickly put on Seamless.com

I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala lunch special. My order arrived on time and was surprisingly good! Chicken was tender and not chewy or dry. The sauce was tasty and the portion was more dinner size than lunch. In fact, I couldn't finish it! A couple of surprises was the side of lentils in a yellow curry sauce and the little cup of coconut milk. Very sweet and tasty! All in all, I am pleased will definitely order again.

The delivery was on time. The lunchbox, I ordered was the Goan Lamb - it only came with 4 small pieces of meat, the rest of the lunch was sauce - LOTS OF IT. I even ran out of Naan. This is not worth the money they are asking. This should be $6-7. I am still hungry and ordering from another restaurant. Very disappointed
Posted 4 years ago by Renee B.
Great guys, large portions. Added rice even though my meal wouldn't have (as specified on seamless). Also called me on my cell after picking up the order to make sure they packed in some naan (and that they would deliver if they forgot). Needless to say, they had not forgotten the naan in the first place.

Just ordered their lunch special (chicken vindaloo). Very tasty - arrived quickly - and reasonably priced!!

Mediocre chana saag. It was watery / greasy. Darbar is much better, has bigger portions and is cheaper. I would not order from here again.
Posted 4 years ago by Michael B.
Awful service! I was waiting over 1 hour for delivery, despite the claim on Seamless that delivery time is 25-40 mins. Rang the restaurant twice to enquire after my food and despite a promise each time to call me back with an update, they did not call me back. Food was cold when it got to me
Posted 4 years ago by David M.
Food arrived cold and in my opinion was not very good. There are many better options for Indian in the area.

Their goan curry is excellent. Legitimate spice. The "samosa" is a bit of joke, but you get a significant amount of food regardless.

Mattar paneer was tasteless, no gravy. Liked boiled peas and paneers in oil with a little dry spices thrown in. Small piece of bone or wood inside. Worse I've had in any NY restaurant.
Posted 5 years ago by Glen K.
I was very excited to try the phaal and it did not disappoint!! I love spicy food and the phaal is every bit as spicy as any other food I have eaten before. The only slight critique would be that relative to other indian restaurants there was not very much meat/potatoes in each dish. I also ordered the vindaloo and both were very delicious but would have left me hungry had i ordered only one dish,
Posted 5 years ago by Nolan L.
The lunch specials are pretty large and include a big piece of naan. Especially good during the winter and on rainy days.
Posted 5 years ago by Tammie T.
Some of the best Indian food around. Their lunch special is very affordable and a massive amount of food. Definitely worth it. The tikka masala chicken platter is very good. Food runs spicy so if you dont like spicy go with mild. Medium is very spicy. Very fast delivery.

Easily one of the best Indian restaurants in the city. Given they deliver on time and deliver while the food is hot, it's always a good choice.

I didn't care for the combination of spices they used in the chicken tikka masala.
Posted 5 years ago by Priscilla S.
Just received delivery from BCHT.
PRO: The food was hot when it arrived, and the mango lassi i ordered was good.
CON: The serving size is RIDICULOUSLY small for the price. I got the chicken vindaloo, which included a total of six tiny bite-sized pieces of chicken, and two even smaller pieces of potato -- for $17.00. Also, they charged me $2.00 for a can of coke and then left it out of my order, for which i had to call back and then wait another ten minutes to receive.
un-bookmarking them now -- there are too many other Indian places to order from to put up with this.

I blinked and the food was there. Delicious as always.

Lasuni gobi (aka Manchurian cauliflower) had sesame seeds & a tangy, vinegary tomato & garlic sauce, which was not oily but soggy when arrived . Chicken tikka masala had a tomato cream sauce & a nice base of fenugreek leaves but M. & I didn't find this curry to be one of their signature sauces. We preferred the madras sauce, which I ordered w/ paneer - the sauce had mustard seeds, curry leaves, red chilies, & coconut milk. Every dish was, however, way TOO SALTY and oily for my palate. Their lunch combos also include a "throw-away" yellowish sour & oily curry w/ carrots & tomato, rice w/ peas, a veggie samosa, a piece of overly-doughy naan, and a crispy & peppery flat chip (also pretty salty!). As mentioned, each dish was generously doused with HEAVY SALT content, which is an unnecessary addition, especially since Indian spices can hold their own & provide more than enough depth & seasonings to any Indian dish. M. & I have ordered or eaten here countless times over the years but I cannot on good conscience to my diet and the healthiness of others continue to endorse eating any of Bricklane's heavily-salted dishes nor can I give them a decent rating.

The food is very good but not cheap and the delivery time is ridiculous. Our order tonight took 1 hour and 10 minutes!!!
Posted 6 years ago by Jennifer C.
ordered the lunch box to go (chicken vindaloo). the samosa was a joke (can you make it any smaller?). the regularly priced samosa is $7? that is crazy. everything was very watered down. i prefer baluchi's. won't be ordering from again.

The curry and raita taste like straight cilantro. The raita consists of mostly cilantro. The rice pudding, raita and curry has the consistency of water. I would prefer all 3 to be much thicker.

The food quality and service at this place have declined dramatically since their opening. The lunch specials remain serviceable, but they're not nearly as flavorful as they used to be. Delivery times remain pretty good, but the number of errors in orders has increased to what I consider to be an unacceptable level. There are only so many times one can order lamb and get chicken before losing one's patience.
My favorites (used to be) bhuna lamb and madras lamb. If you're going to order from Bricklane, give them a try. Who knows, you might even get what you ordered.

Finally! A decent Indian restaurant that delivers to midtown west!! We are so happy with Bricklane. We have really struggled to find an Indian place that will deliver to us that we like and we finally found it! We ordered the chana tikka masala, saag paneer, samosas and naan and really liked all items. Well-flavored, good amount of spice and appropriate chutneys and sauces included. Both main dishes had the right amount of creaminess that we have found lacking in some of the other restaurants in the area. Just for reference, our favorite Indian restaurants in NYC are Indus Valley near Columbia and Muglai on the UWS and Bricklane is very similar in flavor. Quick delivery too.
